NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR

LATERAL POLICE OFFICER CANDIDATES

Any individual interested in a lateral transfer should submit their application to Clarksville Police Department. Deadline Submission will be May 23rd, 2024

 

Applications are available in person at the Clarksville Police Department or online at www.clarksvillepolice.com.

  • A lateral officer is an officer that has graduated from a certified police academy and is actively serving in a sworn law enforcement agency in a state, county, or municipal agency with the full powers of arrest. Potential lateral transfer officers must successfully complete the applicant testing required of new hires (including a physical assessment, written exam, written essay, interview, background investigation and psychological exam). Potential lateral transfer officers must also complete the medical exam if they are not already members of the INPRS 1977 Police and Fire Pension and Disability Fund.

  • Lateral officers will complete a one-year probationary period.

  • Lateral officers will complete the field training program. An accelerated program may be used.

 

A physical agility test will be held on May 19th at 2pm at Clarksville High School and will be held to the current ILEA Standards with a makeup date to be scheduled at a later date

The Clarksville Police Department is home to 53 Full Time Police Officers assisted by 18 Reserve Police Officers and 18 civilian employees.  The department proudly serves the Town of Clarksville, the oldest town in the Northwest Territory, founded in 1783.
