With the growing concern from the
community, along with a loss of tax revenue, the Clarksville
Police Department will initiate a program to encourage and promote
Indiana Law regarding out-of-state vehicle registration and
drivers license conformity. The program "Indiana
Vehicle Registration and License Compliance" (IVRLC) will
commence on June 1, 2001. IVRLC will be implemented in a
four-step procedure:
1. Gather statistical
information on out of state vehicles
2. Notification to target areas
and public awareness
3. 30 day conformity and
supplemental data compilation
4. Enforcement
Information is currently being
collected regarding out of state vehicle registrations. Contact
will then be made with area apartment complexes and other target
areas and request they inform tenants of the residency
requirement. The police department will then allow a 30-day
conformity period, with supplementary information and public
awareness releases to the media and by other means. During this
time frame additional out of state vehicle information will be
recorded. The final process will be enforcement. Compliance and
enforcement will be based on the following Indiana State Statues:
